Sophie smiled knowingly and said, “Ah, I know exactly what
you mean. I’ve been there too. But don’t worry, it’s all part of the journey.
And besides, the Dutch may seem tough on the outside, but they’re really
just softies on the inside.”
She recommended a few books to me, including a guide to Dutch culture
and a phrasebook to help me navigate the language. And as I left the
store, I felt a sense of hope and renewed determination. Maybe, just
maybe, I could learn to navigate this strange new world after all.
